Since the murder of King Henry IX a new position at court has often been in place - that of Lord-Defender, charged with the protection of court. The current incumbent, Earl Hooke is famous for his experience and skill though there are those who believe in the rumours of shouted blasphemies, drunken nights and other sinful deeds. Married.

Following investigations and numerous allegations, Jack Hooke was found to be responsible for the deaths of no less than three ambassadors (of France and the Papal States, one of which was a Cardinal) and possibly countless other individuals; the riots resulting int he death of Cardinal Doumani are attributed to Hooke. He performed two of the murders with the aid of a terrible sorcerous weapon, the power of which is considered beyond belief.

Declared a traitor he was attainted before Parliament and stripped of his land and titles before facing trials in the Rabbinical courts of Liverpool, the Church court of the Vatican and the Hight Courts of France before being executed in France itself.
